Creating awareness Through our Mission Statement
QAIS will be celebrating its 5th anniversary soon, and, as as the global family we represent, what better idea to celebrate than in our international day.
As our MMUN program evolves and students become more and more engaged in understanding the importance of taking action on global issues, we have decide to contribute to the international day celebration by working on its cultural part, and take it to a different level. Our intentions are to move away from the basic F’s (food, flag, and festivals), and focus on the Sustainable development goals.
Students have been grouped in 10 teams, each of which will represent a country. Besides representing some of the nationalities QAIS hosts, other countries include countries that we are actively researching in MMUN:
Thus, today, in their teams, MYP students engaged in doing research about the country they were assigned. Every country is to work on two goals that are directly linked to our mission statement: Contributing to a peaceful world, and enjoying rights to quality education. Moreover, each student will choose another millennium goal in which the country they will represent has demonstrated significant advancement.
The first task was to make a poster that could summarize what people could learn if they come to the countries’ stands, and here is a preview.
