Our Own Guest Speakers on Socioeconomic Development in Nigeria QAIS员工为中学部学生讲述尼日利亚的社会经济发展
Music and drama teacher, Lauren Borodenko, and facilities manager, Chris Borodenko, gave a presentation on their two years living in Nigeria to MYP and DP students this past Thursday.
The Borodenkos wore some typical clothing from Nigeria and began by explaining that men and women will wear clothing cut from the same cloth in Nigeria to show that they – as a couple – are “cut from the same cloth.” The presentation overall was fantastic and gave students a lot of firsthand insights. Some slides from the presentation are below mixed in with pictures.
The talk touched on topics that students have already discussed in their Global Issues and Entrepreneurship class, such as people’s access to electricity, clean water, sanitation and agriculture. The Borodenko’s presentation will also facilitate conversations about development in DP Economics.
Students reacted positively to hearing first-hand about Nigeria’s social and economic development and made requests for more talks about staff experiences living in other countries. We can do that!
